A marketplace facilitator is a company that provides the platform where sales happen and processes payments on behalf of sellers.
Many states have passed laws that require marketplace facilitators to:
- Calculate sales tax
- Collect sales tax from the customer
- Remit sales tax directly to the state
In states where these laws apply, the responsibility for sales tax shifts from the seller to the marketplace.
Imago is considered a marketplace facilitator in certain states. As a result, imago may be required to handle sales tax collection and remittance for orders delivered to customers in those states.
Sales tax responsibilities vary by state and depend on current marketplace facilitator and nexus laws.
Here is a breakdown of how sales tax is handled for imago orders in each state: https://www.theimago.io/sales-tax-collection/
You can verify both the sales tax amount collected and the amount remitted for each order on imago in two places:

In the Accounting Details screen, you will see Imago Remit Sales Tax → This is the amount imago remitted on your behalf.

Step 1: Open the Accounting Report
- Go to Reports
- Select Accounting Report
- Choose your desired date range
- Request Report
